Roberto Edwards

Roberto Edwards is a Chilean photographer and the founder of the Cuerpos Pintados Experimental Workshop. Cuerpos Pintandos is a project that explores the body through direct body painting, and marries the concerns of painting, performance art, documentation, and photography. Over 100 internationally renowned painters have been invited to produce work at Cuerpos Pintados since its start in 1981.

Roberto Edwards’ photographs are accurate records of an organic project involving models and artists who approach the human body as a three-dimensional canvas. The images contain an almost endless variation concerning the expressive power of the body and painting. Edwards’ photo art is spontaneous, collaborative, and creative.

Roberto Edwards’ photographs from Cuerpos Pintados have received great critical acclaim. He has had countless exhibitions in over 40 major museums throughout the world. It has been an amazing 30-year journey.
