Purana Qila, or the Old Fort, is one of the oldest and most historic sites in New Delhi, India. Constructed by Mughal Emperor Humayun and later expanded by Sher Shah Suri in the 16th century, Purana Qila exemplifies the robust architecture of the era with its massive walls and imposing gates. The fort is believed to be built on the site of the ancient city of Indraprastha, adding to its historical significance.

Across the fort’s expansive grounds, there are several notable structures, including the Qila-i-Kuhna Mosque, which features intricate Indo-Islamic architecture, and the Sher Mandal, an octagonal tower that served as a library for Humayun. The fort also houses a small museum displaying artifacts from different periods of Delhi’s history.
